Join JHVI’s #VaccinesWork Challenge to Raise Money for UNICEF!
Message from JHVI and CIR Director Dr. Ruth Karron:
We look forward to celebrating our 11th annual Vaccine Day this Friday, April 26th. We are delighted to welcome Dr. Richard Hatchett, the CEO of CEPI, as our guest speaker.
As many of you know, this is also World Immunization Week. Celebrated during the last week in April, World Immunization Week aims to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease. This year, to spread the message that communities can protect everyone through the use of vaccines, UNICEF is partnering with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Health Organization and GAVI on the #VaccinesWork Campaign.
For every like or share of social media posts using the hashtag #VaccinesWork in April, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will contribute USD$1 to UNICEF up to USD$1 million.
Please join the Johns Hopkins Vaccine Initiative (JHVI) in the #VaccinesWork challenge. Take a moment to tweet about the importance of vaccines from your social media accounts using the handle @JHUCIR and the hashtag #VaccinesWork. We will tally the tweets and report our success on Vaccine Day!
Here are a couple of sample tweets:
Prevention of illness and death through vaccine use is one of the greatest success stories of modern medicine. @JHUCIR #VaccinesWork
#WorldImmunizationWeek2019 is the perfect time to ensure that you and your loved ones are protected against vaccine preventable diseases! @JHUCIR #VaccinesWork
According to @WHO, immunization prevents 2-3 million deaths each year. @JHUCIR #VaccinesWork
We hope that everyone will use their social media presence to promote the power of vaccines. I look forward to seeing many of you on Friday! For those of you who cannot attend, please join us via livestream at: https://www.ustream.tv/channel/johns-hopkins-bloomberg-school-of-public-health
