3rd Annual Health Research Day at Eager Park!

CIR participates in the 3rd Annual Health Research Day festivities at Eager Park

Rachel and game wheel

CIR was a proud participant in the 3rd Annual Health Research Day on May 17, 2025.  The event was hosted by the Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research and Studdy Buddy. The event gives the Hopkins Research and East Baltimore communities the opportunity to interact and share useful information that helps keep them connected.

With the increased spotlight on vaccines and vaccine research, our table was popular, and we seized this amazing opportunity to share information about the Center with Hopkins colleagues, students, individual community members, community entities like Sons of Phoenix and others!  To help engage and educate, we conducted a game where contestants could answer vaccine and clinical research related questions to receive a special swag item.  Some questions were difficult, but those who played received that special swag and learned more about vaccines and clinical research along the way!  We enjoy this way of teaching about the importance of vaccines and the work we do.

Staff members also participated in important conversations about vaccine/clinical research participation hesitancy. Our table was a safe space for visitors to ask questions and voice concerns about what it means to participate in clinical research. Acknowledging those concerns and dispelling misinformation in a fun and relaxed environment is one of many reasons why this event is so important to researchers and community members alike!

Our table got a special visitor when the Orioles bird stopped by to spin the wheel!  We

couldn't help but take a moment and strike a pose!
