Enrolling Adults 65+ years old

Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) Vaccine Study (CIR 380)

The Johns Hopkins CIR is looking for healthy volunteers to participate in an outpatient C. difficile Vaccine study. The purpose of this study is to test an investigational vaccine to see if it can prevent severe diarrhea, reduce how sick people get, and lower the need for medical care or antibiotics in adults 65 years of age and older. If you are 65 years of age or older and have taken antibiotics for at least 48 hours in the last 3 months, or have been hospitalized at least once or had 2 ER visits in the last year, or have had 10 or more healthcare visits in the last year, you may be eligible to participate. The study will last up to 3 and a half years and will include:

  • Up to 5 in-person visits over the course of the study including 2 vaccination visits
  • 3 phone visits
  • Twice monthly e-diaries

Eligible people will be compensated for completing study procedures.
